Dear all - just a thought. When two clubs merge do both of their records become one or should the new "merged" club start their record afresh?

A tricky one. When countries have "merged" we have relied on FIFA's decision as to which records stand - e.g. the unified Germany team is a "merger" of East Germany and West Germany, but only takes the records of West Germany, East Germany remains separate statistically. Perhaps see how the local league / FA treated the merger? Certainly it doesn't seem fair to add two clubs' records together?
