Hi all,
As some of you will know, I've been attempting to put together a world club version for the last 8 years or so.
Recently, I decided to re-tackle the lineage which took place in the 1900s when the all-conquering Tottenham Hotspur took the title at the time when they were winning the FA Cup and therefore took the route into the non-league competitions.
Having been very much helped by the Daily Express newspaper archive, I've now reached a point where I need some help please and wondered what people thought.
Problem: Croydon Common of Southern League fame became champions and promptly got relegated from Division One of the Southern League. During the new season they competed in 3 leagues:
- Southern League Division Two
- London League Division One
- South Eastern League Division One
The first problem I have is whether to use the results of the last two leagues named above as a number of reserve sides were included that year and therefore weren't full first XI competitions but Croydon Common fielded their first team in these games.
The second problem I then have is if these games are included, the lineage then comes to the champions being the Brighton & Hove Albion reserve side in the first game of the new season. Would the champions then become 'Brighton & Hove Albion' as a whole or just the reserve side?
Alternatively, do you just include fixtures from these leagues that have first teams playing in them on both sides?
I realise this is all hypothetical in the real sense but wondered what everbody's thoughts were.....![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)
Look forward to hearing from you.
Cheers,
Steve
