After many painstaking hours of research and gaining a patently scary familiarity with soccerbase, I can reveal that Everton are by some distance the most frequent holders and Manchester United are the current holders, meaning the Championship is up for grabs against Sunderland. However, I am no webmaster. I have handwritten every time the championship has changed hands, with the date and score.
Criteria:
Football League matches only.
Title can be relegated and promoted.
League playoff matches count.
Feedback and web designers welcome.

Oh yeah- nearly forgot...
-Title starts with Preston as they had an unbeaten season in the first year of the Football League.
-When Man U won the title vs. Newcastle on March 4, the Unofficial Football League Championship was unified with its Premier League counterpart. This unification will not be permanent, however, as their rules do not allow the title to be relegated.

We'll no doubt incorporate the club version into the main site. Will probably be best to incorporate the different versions currently being compiled. See this thread:

OK. As I say, I've completed it but would like to find out more stats before posting the whole thing. Just in the process of putting all the data into my computer via Excel. All I know right now is that Everton has won more title matches than anyone else. Will give an update on progress.
