Since Israel (and thus, Maccabi Tel Aviv) left AFC in 1974, the title was given to the previous challenger, Al-Shorta, which returned to Asian competitions in the 1997/98 Asian Cup Winners Cup.

The second round of the 1967 edition can also be considered as the first two matches for the title as there is only one matchup at that edition's second round.

You've inspired me to make my own version, which starts from either the 1967 final or the 1967 2R L1 match but also includes domestic league and cup matches. (It turns out that Selangor only played two domestic matches in that range, and won both, so this is relatively irrelevant to the line... but see below.)

The problem is that I've looked at the results (up to May 1970 so far, but that's enough for the following), and it turns out that, when Israel leaves AFC on 15 September 1974, the last non-Israeli holder is... Selangor in 1967. I'm not sure if it would be honest to "return" the title to Selangor after 15/9/74 when it's debatable that they even held it in the first place.

Nope! In 1970, due to domestic matches, Hapoel Tel Aviv didn't hold the title at the relevant point, and thus didn't lose it to Taj Tehran/Esteghlal.

OTOH, your phrasing makes it unclear if you had given the title to Al-Shorta as the last title holder, or literally as the last challenger (i.e. opponent in the last match). If the latter, there might be some post-1967 candidates (I'd probably have to get the line all the way to 1974 to figure out which was in fact the last one).

I meant it as the last challenger (although they technically refused to play the final). Also, I thought it would be interesting too if the lineage continued with the next earliest AFC competition match instead since it is close to how a vacated title is won in boxing (which the Unofficial World Cup rules was based on).

But most of the dates for the qualification matches for the 1985-86 season were missing. So, the options right now is to either take the first of the few dated qualifying matches or to scrap the qualifiers and just take the first match of the final tournament into account. Another option is to give the championship to the winner of the 85-86 tournament which is more accurate to how it is done in boxing where if a title is vacated, the best two contenders will fight for the title.
