Sri Lanka then beat India in the first test of the three match season to become champions until the 31st when they lost to India in the second test to give India the championship back before India lost the third and final test to Sri Lanka to give Sri Lanka a 2-1 win but more importantly they are tghe Unofficial Test Cricket Champions! That series takes India's total of wins to 18 and Sri Lanka's to 8.

Due to the recent trouble in Pakistan that has caused the Champions Trophy to be postponed the New Zealand tour was cancelled so the next ODI Championship game will be at a later date. Looking at the Cricket Archive website there are no upcoming ODI games scheduled for Pakistan but I will add the next game when I learn of it.

Pakistan beat the West Indies 3-0 in a 3 match ODI series on 12th, 14th and 16th November before beating Sri Lanka on 20th January and then losing twice to them on 21st January and 24th January losing the series 1-2 and losing the ODI unofficial title. Therefore Sri Lanka are the current Test and ODI unofficial champions as they also defeated Bangladesh 2-0 in a test series on 26th December and 3rd January before drawing two matches with Pakistan on 21st February and 3rd March before the series was abandoned due to the terrorist attacks. Sri Lanka are not defending their test championship against England. Also the West Indies defended their Twenty20 championship against England on 15th March.

I forgot to mention that in between Sri Lanka's one day series in Pakistan and the aborted test series they played India in a one day series. They lost the first four games on the 28th January, 31st January, 3rd February and 5th February giving India the title for a brief while. However they won the final match of the series by 68 runs to regain the title despite losing the series 4-1. They then won the first 3 games of another one day series against Pakistan on 30th July, 1st August and 3rd August before losing the final 2 games of the series on 7th and 9th August to give Pakistan the title despite winning the series 3-2. Earlier in the same tour, Sri Lanka had regained their test title by beating Pakistan 2-0 in a 3 match series on 4th, 12th and 20th July. They won the first 2 matches and drew drew the 3rd. Sri Lanka are currently defending their test title against New Zealand and Pakistan will defend their ODI title in Australia on 22nd January 2010. The West Indies took their Twenty20 title into the Twenty20 World Cup defeating Australia in the first group phase before losing at the same stage to Sri Lanka to give them the title. Sri Lanka went on to beat Pakistan, Ireland and New Zealand at the Super8 stage, then beat the West Indies again in the Semi Finals before losing to Pakistan in the Final to give Pakistan possession of the Twenty20 unofficial and official titles. Pakistan defended the unofficial Twenty20 title on the 12th August on their tour of Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka defeated New Zealand 2-0 in the test series on 18th August and 26th August to retain their unofficial title. Pakistan are not defending their ODI title on 22nd January 2010 as I said, they are defending it in the Champions Trophy in South Africa on 23rd September 2009.
