This thread is about matches between former Soviet republics. Who is the champion of the countries that were part of the Soviet Union before the fall of communism?
In 1991, the Baltic countries started playing the traditional Baltic Cup again, just like before World War II. But at that moment the Baltic countries were not yet recognised by FIFA. But in 1992 the matches in the Baltic Cup were FIFA-sanctioned so that is were we start.
Surprisingly, Russia has never won this title. But it has to be said that they have made only a few attempts to do so.
10/07/1992 Latvia 12/07/1992 Lithuania 18/05/1993 Ukraine 07/09/1994 Lithuania 21/05/1995 Latvia 08/07/1996 Lithuania 13/08/1996 Ukraine 19/05/2002 Belarus 10/09/2003 Moldova 16/02/2004 Belarus 17/08/2005 Lithuania 16/08/2006 Moldova 20/08/2008 Lithuania 25/05/2010 Ukraine
Next match is not yet scheduled.

After the match against Ukraine, Estonia won 1:0 against Lithuania on the 3rd. A few days later on the 7th, Lithuania left the sp00n in Belarus (0:1). Lithuania v. Belarus ended in 1:1.
