On 3 December, Grenada took over the title by beating T&T by 2:1. On 5 December, Jamaica beat Granada by 4:0. Jamaica succesfully defended the North/Central/Caribbean title against and Trinidad and Tobago (7 December, 1:1) and Grenada (14 December, 2:0).

In Oceania, not surprisingly, the title has been almost exclusively in Australian or New Zealand hands, since their first fixture in 1922. Perhaps more surprisingly, Fiji had the award from 1977-79, Tahiti from 1980 to 1991 (by virtue of the tactic of not playing any matches in the intervening 11 years), and Fiji again1991-92. The handing backwards and forwards between the two regional powers resumed, and the title was most recently wrested by the Socceroos in June 2005. They left the OFC six months later, and have not defended the title since: nor will they in competitive fixtures for the foreseeable future. But they will surely play occasional friendlies against their Kiwi neighbours to revive the competition.
Query As Australia are no longer OFC members, will they be able to defend and lose this title, or would we conclude that there is no longer an Oceanian side called Australia? And if they lose it, are they eligible to regain it?
Now, where will I find the first Asian match...?

Well, to answer my own query, the earliest games I could find were the Far Eastern Games, involving Philippines and China, and Japan from the third edition (although to those countries' point of view, they are not in the far east, but anyway...).
On the grounds that Turkey, Soviet Union/Russia, Israel and Australia have already been considered part of another continental championship, I have excluded them from the Asian title (Turkey would have changed its course in 1948, Soviet Union in 1959, 1966, 1978 and 1979, and Australia in 1982, 1996 and 2008)
China 31/1/1913 1 match Philippines 4/2/1913 3 matches China 1/5/1915 4 matches Philippines 13/5/1919 1 match China 15/5/1919 13 matches Indonesia 12/5/1957 1 match China 2/6/1957 2 matches North Korea 25/10/1959 1 match China 4/10/1960 2 matches North Korea 5/8/1965 8 matches Iran 11/5/1973 2 matches Syria 15/5/1973 2 matches Iraq 26/12/1975 7 matches Kuwait 15/4/1976 4 matches Iran 13/6/1976 17 matches Kuwait 28/9/1980 2 matches Thailand 16/10/1980 10 matches Kuwait 22/4/1981 3 matches China 18/10/1981 9 matches North Korea 20/11/1981 2 matches Thailand 24/11/1981 19 matches Singapore 14/8/1982 1 match Malaysia 5/10/1982 1 match South Korea 7/10/1982 4 matches Iran 25/11/1982 1 match Kuwait 28/11/1982 2 matches Iraq 4/12/1982 7 matches Qatar 25/3/1984 1 match Iraq 28/3/1984 3 matches Qatar 5/4/1985 2 matches Iraq 5/5/1985 7 matches UAE 27/9/1985 2 matches Kuwait 28/3/1986 9 matches Saudi Arabia 3/10/1986 1 match South Korea 5/10/1986 5 matches Bahrain 17/6/1988 4 matches Syria 12/7/1988 2 matches Jordan 16/7/1988 1 match Iraq 19/7/1988 4 matches Qatar 20/1/1989 5 matches Kuwait 22/9/1989 1 match Iraq 15/10/1989 18 matches China 20/6/1993 1 match Saudi Arabia 23/1/1994 2 matches Uzbekistan 1/10/1994 6 matches Tajikstan 8/5/1996 1 match Uzbekistan 19/6/1996 1 match Japan 11/9/1996 4 matches Kuwait 15/12/1996 1 match UAE 18/12/1996 1 match Saudi Arabia 21/12/1996 13 matches China 3/10/1997 2 matches Iran 17/10/1997 1 match Saudi Arabia 24/10/1997 17 matches Jordan 2/10/2000 2 matches Qatar 5/1/2001 4 matches Thailand 17/2/2001 8 matches Iraq 17/8/2001 1 match Bahrain 23/8/2001 3 matches Saudi Arabia 21/9/2001 31 matches Uzbekistan 22/7/2004 2 matches Bahrain 30/7/2004 1 match Japan 3/8/2004 7 matches Iran 25/3/2005 5 matches Japan 17/8/2005 3 matches Saudi Arabia 3/9/2006 4 matches Japan 15/11/2006 4 matches Saudi Arabia 25/7/2007 1 match Iraq 29/7/2007 1 match Qatar 16/10/2007 5 matches Bahrain 4/3/2008 7 matches Japan 22/6/2008 7 matches Bahrain 28/1/2009 2 matches to date

Brazil got a draw, and defend the S American title at home to Peru on Wednesday: Russia retained the European title against Azerbaijan, and are surely favourites in the next defence against Liechtenstein, also on Wednesday.

Sorry Pete, but you should update your post. Since October 18, in South America, the results were: 18 10 2006 Uruguay b 6 26 2007 Peru 6 30 2007 Venezuela 7 7 2007 Uruguay 7 10 2007 Brazil 6 6 2008 Venezuela 6 19 2008 Chile 9 7 2008 Brazil Well, "Brasil" (in portugues) are the current South American Unofficial Champions SAUC I can expand only in CONMEBOL, because I'm Argentinian, so it's easier for me

North America: still with Jamaica, after May draws with Haiti and El Salvador, are at home to Panama in a friendly later today.
Europe: Russia defend title against Finland on Wednesday.
Asia: Japan beat Uzbekistan yesterday, and are at home to Qatar on Wednesday.
S America: Brazil won that game against Peru, and again against Uruguay a few hours ago: they play Paraguay on Wednesday.
Africa: Uganda lost the title to Ghana on 31 May; Ghana are away to Mali later today.
Oceania: no scheduled match for Australia against Oceanian opposition.

Based on the list above, they would have acquired the title at the 2006 World Cup when they beat Japan.

Well, if, as Norquay suggests, Australia become eligible for the Asian title as of 1st Jan 2006, then they would have had to relinquish the Oceania title at that stage. If they had done this, then the first game between OFC members after that became the decider for their replacement: this was a Solomon Island victory over Papua New Guinea on 13.07.2007, a reign that lasted 5 matches before they were beaten by New Caledonia, who held the title for a year and a day, and through 6 matches, until they were beaten twice in 4 days by New Zealand. On 19th November 2008, in a dead rubber game in the OFC Nations Cup, Fiji scored a surprise win. The Fijians have not yet defended that title, nor have they any matches scheduled.
As Norquay says, Australia's first intervention to change the course of the Asian title, if we allow them to move to another competition, was against Japan in the World Cup finals on 12/6/06, so:
12/6/06 Australia 2 games 6/9/06 Kuwait 2 games 15/11/06 Bahrain 2 games 18/1/07 Saudi Arabia 3 games 27/1/07 UAE 3 games 24/6/07 Saudi Arabia 2 games 1/7/07 Oman 2 games 12/7/07 Thailand 1 game 16/7/07 Australia 1 game 21/7/07 Japan 1 game Saudi Arabia 25/7/2007 1 match Iraq 29/7/2007 1 match Qatar 16/10/2007 5 matches 6/2/08 Australia 3 matches 7/6/08 Iraq 2 games 22/6/08 Qatar 2 games 11/8/08 Iran 14 games 28/3/09 Saudi Arabia 2 games 26/5/09 Qatar 1 defence so far, and Wednesday's game against Japan, as previously mentioned, is the next game.
So, are we going to say that Australia remain Oceania champs, and Japan carry the Asian title into Wednesday, or that Fiji reign over the OFC, and it is Qatar who are the defending Asian champs?

I would say the last one (Fiji currently in Oceania, Qatar currently in Asia) because if we would have to wait for Australia to play another Oceanian team we maybe have to wait for another 10 years if we're unlucky.
Just let's hope that tomorrow's Japan vs. Qater won't end in a draw, so that the Asian title will be unboudted again.

Kevin is correct about Australia. but i've got a question: If Australia has qualified from oceania and in that moment (and now too) are AFC, defated Japan in WC 2006, Australia shouldn't be an Oceanian team until World Championship end?
The fact is: Australia is Oceanian or Asian during the World Cup???

The qualification for FIFA WC 2006 already ended during the year the 2005, so before Australia moved from OFC to AFC.
Also, Australia already played a qualification match vs. Bahrein for the Asia Cup on 22 February 2006, four months before the World Cup. So they are "Asian" starting from 1 January 2006, however you look at it. And thus they were also Asian during the World Cup.
Meanwhile in:
* Europe: Russia beat Finland 3:0. On 12 August they will play against Argentina; the next matches that count for the European title are against Liechtenstein on 5 September, and against Wales 4 days later. * S America: Brazil beat Paraguay 2:1. Brazil are now going to the Confederations Cup which doesn't involve any other South American team. After that they will play a friendly against Estonia on 12 August. But on 5 September there will be a South American classic: Argentina vs. Brazil!
